United States, 2004, FLOWN, Cluster Balloon Flight Cover (No. 49/51) This legal-size cover is from the second cluster-balloon flight ever made in the United States. Flown by pilot John Ninomiya, this flight reached an altitude of 1,000 feet and travelled from Pittsvield, N.H. to Jennes Pond, N.H. The cover is signed by the pilot with a multicolor add-on flight cachet showing the cluster balloon in flight, launch and landing cancels, plus the pilots personal, oval violet "Bordstampel" (onboard) handstamped cachet. There is a large, round, red handstamped "Flown" cachet on the reverse. An important cover we have not seen before.
