Potosi is possibly the city with the highest elevation in the world (15,827 feet). Founded in 1546, it became one of the greatest mining centers in the world. 45,000 tons of silver were removed between 1556 and 1783. The natives were forced to work the mines, and so many died, that 30,000 African slaves had to be imported to keep the silver flowing.
Estimated Value $150 - 200.
