(Dirks, R.) "Katzanjammer Kids". Two large (7½x23") original hand-colored panels of the popular comic strip, penned by the artist R. Dirks; it started in the early teens and went through the early 30s, the name having changed to "The Captain & the Kids."One strip is headed "Captain & Kids Mar. 10 - 1929 Page 6 - 4 colors," and the other "Captain & Kids - Heading July 11 - 1928"; they are 90% drawn, with some omissions. Fine; some soiling. Accompanied by a full-page comic from the Sept. 30, 1923 Boston Sunday Globe. These strips were obtained from a gentleman who was taken to the newspaper office as a child; Dirks gave one strip to him and the other to his sister. Highly collectible and rare.
