(Hawaii) Kamehameha III (1814-54) He became King (1824-54) after his brother, King Liholiho, died from measles while visiting London. Hawaiian language Royal Patent No. 242 Signed as King, 2pp, 13¼x8¼", Honolulu, 26 March 1850. Partly-printed and accomplished in manuscript. Printed portion is also printed in English on a conjoined page. Fine; overall toning. With a Royal red wax seal and a Royal black stamp with crown and encircling Hawaiian motto. The document is a transaction with Kaiaikawaha relative to land at Mokuleia, Waialua, Oahu, Hawaii. Also signed by Keoni Ana as Minister of the Interior; he succeeded Kekauluoki as Prime Minister and also served at various times as governor of Maui and as a justice of the Supreme Court. He was the son of John Young and the chiefess Kaonaeha.
