Custer, George Armstrong (1839-76) Union general; best known for "Custer's Last Stand" at the Battle of the Little Big Horn on 25 June 1876, where he and his men were all killed. Signature "G A Custer" with "U.S.A." in purple ink on a 2x3¼" piece of white paper, laid to a slightly larger piece of brown paper.
