Bingham, Hiram (1789-1869) American Congregational clergyman; Sandwich Islands missionary (1820-40); devised alphabet for Hawaiian languages; with associates translated Bible into Hawaiian. Large autograph, place, and date, "Hiram Bingham / New Haven, Dec. 18, 1857" written below "Live, every day, for Christ and heaven," 6 x 7½ in. With two autograph letters signed ("H. Bingham"), 1p. each, 10 York Square, 1858 and 1859, to Messrs. Richard Bros. ordering coal. Light toning, else fine.
