Costa, Sir Michael and Sir Charles Hubert Hastings Parry. Sir Michael Costa (1806-1884) Italian-born British conductor and opera composer. Four autograph letters signed, total of 5½ pages, 7½ x 4½", London, one dated 1871, two dated 1872, and one undated. To various people. One refers to his oratorio "Eli": "Having sold any copyright of 'Eli' since I composed it, you will have to apply to the present publisher…." Another encloses a check (not present) "as a donation towards the object contained in your letter…." The other two mention travels. Pasting remnants on verso of one letter. With Sir Charles Hubert Hastings Parry (1848-1918) English composer. Autograph letter signed "C. Hubert H Parry," 4 pages, 7 x 4", Worthing, April 19. 1884. To Mr. Watson, regretting he can't come to the Board meeting and discussing his bad health. "I suppose from the note of today saying my lessons begin on Tuesday that I shall not be wanted for examination on Monday….I saw Mr. Franklin Taylor this morning so my views will be well represented at the Board…."
