Emerson, Samuel N. -- Hawaiian Monarchy Real Estate Lease. 12½ x 8 in., 1875, October 1, 4 pp. Transaction with Levi Chamberlain leasing Mokuleia, Waialua Oahu, Hawaii described in Royal Patent No. 261. Signed by the following: Samuel N. Emerson; Levi Chamberlain, William Smith, A. S. Hartwell, Cecil Brown, and Thomas Brown. Chamberlain was a member of the Second Company of American missionaries that arrived in Honolulu in 1823. Smith served as sheriff of Kauai and Maui, was in the Hawaiian Legislature and served as Attorney General and President of the Board of Health. Hartwell was a Justice of the Supreme Court from 1868-1874. Brown served as Attorney General under the Hawaiian monarchy and was often called upon to advise King Kalakaua.
