Vintage World War II " Greece Fights On" Resistance Poster. Original World War II "Greece Fights On" poster, 32" x 24", four color, Greek Office of Information, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York City, 1942, by E. McKnight Kauffer (1890-1954). Edward Kauffer was one of the most prolific and influential graphic designers of the 20th century. This poster is one of two designs created by Kauffer to support the Greek Resistance movement during World War II. A hauntingly beautiful poster featuring a large silhouette of a soldier (who resembles a Greek God) and a large bold flowing Greek flag. The poster is a fine example of Kauffer's bold use of symbolic, modernist design with minimal imposition of text. Signed in plate, lower right. Rolled, unfolded. A ¾" tear lower right border and a few minor marginal tears have been backed with acid free tape. Overall very good.
