1840 N-5 R1 Large Date with Repunched 0 PCGS graded MS64+ Brown, CAC Approved. Attractive lustrous light olive and bluish steel with generous traces of mellowed mint red remaining visible, particularly on the reverse. Nearly void of marks or other defects. A small, shallow nick or planchet void right of the lower point of star 6 and a few barely visible specks of darker toning at the ribbon loop are the only notable marks. MDS, die state b. The repunching at the left top of the 0 is clear but no longer sharp, and the earlier die lines over RICA are gone. Our grade is MS63, tied for CC#3 in the Grellman census. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 1 finer in 65+. Estimated Value $2,250 - UP
