X-38 Vehicle Patch and US Flag Flown Aboard The Test Rescue Vehicle in March, 1999 on Photo Presentation. The X-38 was an experimental re-entry vehicle designed by NASA to research a low cost and effective emergency crew return vehicle for the International Space Station. The project also intended to develop a crew return vehicle design that could be modified for other uses, such as a possible joint U.S. and international human spacecraft that could be launched on the French Ariane 5 booster. A total of three test prototype vehicles were made, each having incremental improvements on its predecessor. All three were wingless lifting body vehicles used in drop tests. But the program was scrapped in 2002 due to budget cuts. Offered is a presentation of thanks to a Mission Control specialist and astronaut trainer for the hard work demonstrated for the successful test flights. A very clever photo montage gives the appearance that the vehicles are flying out of, or into presentation Affixed at center is the triangle X-38 crew insignia flown patch and flown US flag. Estimate Value $200 - UP

Realized $120
