Lot 761

1851/81 N-3 R1 51 over 81. NGC graded MS-64 Brown. Frosty light steel brown with darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. Satiny and quite attractive. The only marks are a dull nick on the jaw near the throat and a small spot of darker brown toning in the field right of the main curl. EDS, die state a. The fields on the lower half of the obverse are covered with die lines, but some of those lines are starting to fade. The 51 over inverted 18 feature remains clear, as does the tiny remnant of the inverted 5 inside the bottom of the 8. Another great example of this very popular "Redbook" variety. Our grade is MS62. The attribution and "1851/Inv 18" feature are noted on the NGC label.
Estimated Value $1,000-UP.

Realized $1,553
