1846 N-5 R2 Small Date, Date Repunched PCGS graded MS63 Brown. Frosty light olive and medium brown. The surfaces are lustrous and the only notable marks are a trail of very tiny ticks under the eye and a spot of darker toning low on the neck. MDS+, die state c late, with tiny rim cud breaks at stars 9, 10, & 11 but no cud breaks on the reverse (the rim cud at star 9 normally comes with a rim cud break over TA in STATES). The repunching is visible on all 4 digits of the date, clearest on the 1 & 8. Our grade is MS60, tied for CC#7 overall but finest of this intermediate die state. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 4; 3 finer: 2 in 64, 1 in 65. Estimated Value $600 - UP
