Lot 733
1847 N-4 R3 Repunched 18. NGC graded AU-58. Lightly cleaned and nicely retoned glossy olive brown and chocolate with faded red showing in protected areas on both sides. Excellent eye appeal in spite of the old retoning. Obviously the folks at NGC felt the color was original, and the coin has a very nice look to it. The only mark is a small nick above the N in CENT. E-MDS, die state b. The die crack through the top of MER is very light and the repunching on the bottoms of the 1 & 8 is obvious. Our grade is net EF40. The attribution and Reiver provenance are noted on the NGC label. Comes with a nice provenance.
