Apollo 17: Very Fine Collection of 8 Individually Signed Color Portraits, All Three Crew Members Included in Collection. Apollo 17 was the last manned mission to the moon by NASA. Moonwalkers Eugene Cernan, Harrison Schmitt and Command Module pilot Ron Evans and 5 mice shattered records of previous missions including the longest Moon landing, longest total lunar surface extravehicular activity and the largest lunar sample collected for study; a 243 pound rock. Collection includes three superb signed NASA photos by Gene Cernan, one of the Earth (signed with no inscription) one on the moon and one of the all three crew on Earth with the rover. Harrison Schmitt has signed his portrait in his white space suit as well as a crew photo on the rover. Ron Evans, a signature that is not easy to find, two signed portrait photos in his white space suit both inscribed and signed boldly. Completing this lot is a signed NASA portrait of Astronaut Joe Engle in a tan flight space suit. Engle was one of the support crew of Apollo 10 and scheduled to fly on Apollo 17 but was replaced with Harrison Schmitt when NASA decided to have a scientist (a geologist) go to the moon. That said, Engle is not without his mark on history. He is the only person to fly two winged space vehicles; The X-15 and the Space Shuttle.
All pieces are in excellent condition. Estimated Value $600 - UP
