Enola Gay: "Navigator's Log of the Enola Gay". All items are in very fine condition. Framed Poster Signed by Tibbets, Ferebee, and Van Kirk. Accompanied By Two Signed Photographs. Striking Color Poster-sized reproduction of the Navigator's Log of the Enola Gay, approximately 20 x 26". The poster reproduces in blow-up the original Navigators Log kept by Theodore Van Kirk, navigator of the historic atomic mission. A text box inset at the bottom of the poster informs us:

"On August 6, 1945 the B-29 bomber "Enola Gay" dropped the world's first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. This is a reproduction of the Navigator's Log of that historic flight. It is exactly as prepared during the flight; there have been no additions, corrections, or alterations of any kind. All times noted in the log are local Tinian time (one hour ahead of Hiroshima time), and all speed and distance figures are in nautical miles (knots). The accompanying map [here the text refers to an adjacent inset] outlines the flight path of the Enola Gay…"

The Log records the flight data - position, times, course, altitude, conditions, airspeed, and other vitals - used by the navigator to keep the airplane on course and on time, "and also, to allow the navigator to determine aircraft location in a short time in the event of problems with the plane or bomb." The poster is signed at the bottom by the Pilot, the Bombardier, and the Navigator of the Enola Gay, "Paul W. Tibbets Thomas Ferebee Theodore J Van Kirk."

Also included are Two Black & White, 8 x 10" Signed Photographs, the first an image of Paul Tibbets waving from the cockpit of the Enola Gay, signed in full "Paul W. Tibbets"; the second photograph is a Black & White, 8 x 10" headshot of bombardier Thomas W. Ferebee in Air Force togs, signed in full "Thomas W. Ferebee Bombardier."

Fine.
Estimated Value $400 - 600.
