Lot 703

1794 C-9 R2 EF40. Choice glossy chocolate and olive brown. Smooth and very attractive, nearly flawless. A pair of tiny nicks under the left corner of the eye, a very faint scuff that barely alters the chocolate toning on the cheek, and a spot of darker toning at the dentils over the F in OF are the best identifying marks. What may appear to be tiny rim bruises around the reverse are actually strongly impressed edge letters. M-LDS, Manley state 3.0. The die crack from the rim into the cap is strong and the tiny rim cud just left of the fraction is clear. A beautiful 1794 half cent.
Estimated Value $5,000-UP.
Ex Delaware Valley Coin Company 3/06-Ray Rouse, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Goldberg's 9/14/08:20.
