1797 S-121b R3-. Good-5. Gripped Edge. Reverse of 1796. The obverse is a point or two better while the reverse is slightly weaker, as usual on this die variety. The surfaces are smooth and attractive except for several rim nicks around the obverse and traces of microscopic porosity on the upper right quadrant of the reverse. The date is bold and the legends are clear except for weakness at UNITED and AMERICA. The single leaves at the top of the wreath (reverse design of 1796) are clear and the gripmarks on the edge are strong.
