Lot 675

1793 S-4 R3. PCGS graded VF-25. Variety with Periods following LIBERTY and Date. Glossy light olive and chocolate brown. The surfaces are smooth and attractive, free of any hint of corrosion or verdigris. The only marks worthy of mention are two small but sharp nicks on the lower back part of the neck and a small planchet flake at the rim left of OF, as struck. The obverse is unevenly struck, stronger at the top than the bottom. The date is complete and easily readable, but the lower part is starting to fade in to the rim below. LIBERTY is strong and the legends on the reverse are complete and clear. An attractive, unspoiled example of the popular "Chain with Periods" variety. Our grade is Fine-12. Comes in a PCGS slab with the old green grading label.
Estimated Value $35,000 - 40,000.
