Pre-Columbian Pottery: Fine Collection of Colima Pottery of Male Figure on Vessel, a Panamanian Gopher/Pig Shaped Vessel, Plus Two Fine Pots. A.) Two fine examples of Colima (Calima) pottery: The best is the male figure and vessel. Immensely appealing, the figure has a repair to the left leg with part of foot missing. Save for a chip to the flared lip, this piece is wonderful and displays beautifully. Colima redware mocha pot with two handles. Little chip on one handle, otherwise quite fine.
B.) Two quite fine examples of ancient Panamanian pottery. First a wonderful pot found in the 1930s near Panama in the shape of a pig or possibly gopher complete with male genitalia in excellent condition. No cracks or repairs, and just a years old chip to back left paw. In deep brown and darker brown tones Just at 5 x 8 x 4½" and includes a decades old notation of its provenance attached gallery sticker. Second piece is a small Cocle pottery ollas (seed jar) from ancient Panama. Of the Conti style with red and black linear decoration on an orange-tan ground. The olla stand just at 4" and has geometric designs still quite visible, rounded body and flared spout A chip on the spout is restored, but it is otherwise intact. This piece also includes a decades old note(s) of provenance. Both display beautifully. Estimated Value $400 - 800
