Lot 642

1830 N-5 R3 AU50. Double Profile with Rotated Reverse. Sharpness very close to mint state but the obverse is covered with microscopic hairlines and there is a large chip out of the rim over ST in STATES (incomplete planchet, as struck). Otherwise the only mark is a faint spot of reddish steel toning between stars 9 & 10. Sharply struck MDS. There is a fine double profile on the nose, lips, and chin, and the reverse is rotated 40 degrees CCW. Combine these two with the planchet chip and you have three different types of mint error on one coin. Removed from an NGC slab graded UNC details, improperly cleaned (NGC label included, #3216484-006).
Estimated Value $300-UP.

Realized $1,006
