1801 LM-2. Rarity-4. NGC graded AU-55. An untoned example that shows strong definition on Liberty's hair and the eagle too. The fields and devices show minor handling marks from limited circulation as one would expect. Splendid antique gold and gray on both sides. 1801 half dimes are quite rare in any grade as few were struck and far fewer survive today. Finding an example even approaching mint state like this coin--requires considerable patience and the ability to jump when offered. A condition rarity this nice! Only 27,760 struck.
