McQueen, Steve, A seven-page legal document with an original signature by Steve McQueen on February 28, 1977 as a principal in First Artists, a production company set up in 1969 by Sidney Poitier, Paul Newman, and Barbra Streisand to exercise more control over their projects. They were joined in 1972 by Steve McQueen and by Dustin Hoffman in 1976. Although the picture isn't named, another contract dated February 28, 1977 (see previous lot) regards the movie "Tom Horn." A three-page section titled "Inducement and Adherence" specifically addresses McQueen's responsibilities in order to induce First Artists, as the producer, and Warner Bros. Inc. as the distributor, to execute the agreement with McQueen's production company, Solar Productions, Inc. Paper is 11 x 8½". File holes punched at top and staple mark at upper left. McQueen's signature on the last page of the contract is signed in black marker and is huge. The movie "Tom Horn" was released March 28, 1980 and McQueen would succumb to cancer on November 7, 1980.
