Lot 62

1845 N-5 R1 PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Very attractive lustrous olive and bluish steel. Satiny mint frost covers this cent and the eye appeal is excellent. Just a few trivial contact marks including a very faint scuff in the field off the nose tip and a tiny tick under the outer edge of the hair bun. Sharply struck with radial lines in all the stars. MDS, die state a, with fine radial die flowlines in the fields but the obverse is uncracked. Our grade is MS60+, tied for CC#16 in the Grellman census. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 6; 2 finer: 1 in 65, 1 in 65+. Estimated Value $500 - UP
Ex Bowers & Merena 11/11/1999:384-Colonel Steven K. Ellsworth Collection (lot ticket included).
