Lot 614
1824/2 N-5 R4 Overdate 4 over 2 VG10. A couple points sharper but the surfaces display extremely fine roughness, mostly in the fields and protected areas, and there are myriad fine scratches on the portrait, all blended nicely into the natural dark olive brown and chocolate toning. A shallow planchet chip on the rim above the C in AMERICA is a good identifying mark on this cent. The date and legends are all strong and the overdate feature is clear. A decent example of a variety that is extremely rare in higher grades.
