Lot 581

1819 N-2 R1 Large Date. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown. Frosty bluish steel brown and chocolate blended with slightly darker tones on both sides. No defects, just the lightest touch of rub on the highest points. Sharply struck very early die state (VEDS). The repunching on the 8 is bold and evidence of the so-called 9 over 8 overdate is clear. In addition the always-present die crack that connects the first 3 digits of the date is extremely light, barely visible. Our grade is AU58. The NGC label indicates this is an overdate 1819/8, but that designation is normally reserved for the N-1 die variety of this year.
Estimated Value $800-UP.

Realized $949
