1798 S-177 R4+ Style II Hair, Small 8 VF20. Five points sharper but there are numerous extremely tiny pits scattered over the planchet, none visible without a good glass and all hidden under the glossy medium chocolate brown and steel toning. The eye appeal of this cent is excellent. No verdigris. The only notable marks are a tiny planchet flake touching the back of the head and a thin diagonal nick at the top of the O in ONE. MDS, Breen state III. with a die crack passing through the date ending in the field under the lowest curl. Called VF25 and tied for CC#2 in the Bland census. Noyes photo #23970.
