Lot 549

Rat Pack Signatures On One Album Leaf. All five Rat Pack signatures on a 4"x5" album leaf, no place, no date (c. early 1960s). Frank Sinatra signed at the top; Peter Lawford is next, then Sammy Davis, Jr., Dean Martin, and Joey Bishop. All five signed in blue ink. Toning at right and left margins and punch holes at top do not affect this rare group of signatures. One occasionally finds the five individual signatures grouped together, but all five signatures on one piece of paper is extremely rare.

The Rat Pack were the arbiters of cool during the early to mid 1960s. Frank Sinatra, the undisputed Chairman of the Board, first appeared onstage with Dean Martin at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas on January 28, 1959. In January-February, 1960, while the five men were shooting Oceans Eleven during the day, they would appear onstage at night at the Sands Hotel, "just tryin' to have a little fun," as Martin would say. These "Summit Meetings" as Sinatra called them, made the audience feel that it, too, was hip, if only for a moment.
Estimated Value $3,000 - 5,000.

Realized $3,565
