Lot 545
1809 S-280 R2 Turban Head VF20. Slightly sharper, especially on the reverse where the details suggest a VF30 grade, but this piece was lightly cleaned and is nicely retoned glossy light to medium chocolate brown. Smooth and attractive, void of any hint of roughness or verdigris, and the only notable mark is a shallow planchet flake at the dentils off the end of the wreath ribbon. MDS. A date that is tough to find in grades above Fine with smooth surfaces.
