Grant, Ulysses S. -- Document Signed as President (1822-1885) 18th President of the United States (1869-77). As Commanding General of the Union Armies, Grant had led the North to victory in the Civil War. Document signed "U.S. Grant" as President, one page, 10 x 8", Washington, Dec. 16, 1869. Ordering the Secretary of State to affix the Seal of the United States to a Warrant "for the remission of all but one half of the fine imposed upon Thomas Curley." Light toning and a diagonal crease in blank, lower-left corner, else fine. Boldly signed. Estimate $1,000 - 1,250
