Lot 500

1798/7 S-152 R2 Overdate Large 8 over 7 VF30. The "Wide Overdate." Glossy light to medium chocolate brown. There is a small puff of darker toning at the curl on the neck and a few minor contact marks. The notable ones are a hairline scratch from the chin to the bottom of the neck, a thin nick at the top of the A in STATES, and a couple small nicks over EN in CENT. MDS, Breen state II, with a clear wave in the field from the dentils at K-8 to close below the curl under the ribbon. Called VF30 and tied for CC#10 in the Bland census. Noyes says VF30 net VF25 Average Plus and tied for CC#9, his photo #24238. Comes with a nice provenance.
