1864. Small motto. NGC graded MS-66 Red & Brown. Boldly struck with lots of mint red visible and lightly toned with the commonly seen variagated wood grain pattern. The surfaces are virtually perfect, as expected for this lofty grade. The eye appeal is strong, and this is a lovely example of this rarely seen issue. The Small Motto design was seen on earlier patterns and only a limited number of 1864 regular issue coins, and all are highly sought after today, especially so when found in top grades as noted here.
