Murrow, Edward R. and Lowell Thomas. Edward Murrow (1908-1965) came to prominence when he broadcast from London during the Blitz, opening his broadcasts with, "This is London," and closing with, "Good night and good luck." Typed letter signed "(E R Murrow,"), on United States Information Agency letterhead, 1 page, 9 x 7 in., Washington, Dec. 30, 1963. To Professor Saul K. Padove (1905-81), a historian and political scientist at the New School for Social Research in New York City, thanking him for an autographed copy of The Meaning of Democracy. With a 9 x 7 in. photo signed ("E.R. Murrow"), no place, no date. With CBS stamp on verso. Together with Lowell Thomas (1892-1981), best known for his interviews with and a movie he made about Lawrence of Arabia. Typed letter signed ("Lowell"), 2 pp, Rockefeller Center, New York City, Oct. 31, 1938, To "John," asking his help in introducing a beautiful young Jewish Australian woman to meet some young Jewish Americans while visiting New York, and adding, "One of her Australian chums…is the girl who married Yehudi Menuhin." Also, a 7 x 5 in. photo of Lowell broadcasting from CBS, signed in full in the lower margin. (3 items).
