Sky- Blue Colored Faience Ushabti. Late Dynastic Egypt, c. 525-350 B.C. A well-detailed ushabti of the usual form, with thick glaze. The consignor notes "Ex Minneapolis Museum". Height: 6 1/2 inches. Repaired at 1 3/4 inches from base, this attractive figure comes with a clear lucite stand.
Estimated Value $500 - 750.
Ushabti figures were designed to act as deputies for the deceased in the after-life. They usually are depicted, as here, carrying a pick, hoe and basket for grain.
