Napoleon and Josephine. Nineteenth century handpainted portrait on ivory of Napoleon in uniform, 3½ x 2¾ in. Waist-high, from the left side, with his right hand resting inside his vest; several medals and his sword handle are visible. His uniform is red, white, and blue; his epaulette, buttons, and part of his sword handle are gold, and his eyes are blue; along one side is the name "Ruy." Period wood frame, 6 1/8 x 5¼ in., with gold inner lining; small ring for handing on back. With a handpainted portrait on ivory of Josephine, in elegant attire--rose, white, gray, and blue, 3¼ x 2½ in., in a dark wood period frame with gold inner lining, 6 x 5 in. Small blemishes to frames, but the portraits are extremely fine.
