18th Century Ink and Color Chinese Fan with Qing Dynasty Seal and Calligraphy. Painted fans have a long history and tradition in Japan and China. In China in the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was a popular tradition to exchange fans with calligraphy and poetic scenes of the landscape and nature. Offered is such a piece from the 18th Century and marked by Jiao He Gui. The lovely and delicate image of cherry blossoms and a pair of swallows have retained their lovely colors on the paper that has removed from the slats, conservation backed and presented as an album sheet. Professionally mounted in a plexi-shadow box, linen matted, and with a curved recess that accents the shape or the fan beautifully. The fan is 7 x 18" and the plexi shadow box measures 17 x 24" Fan and presentation in excellent condition. Estimate Value $500 - UP
