Lot 451

1828 Braided Hair Cent. Small wide date. . N-10. PCGS graded AU-55 and Del Bland EF-40. Only a few abrasions on the obverse visible under magnification separate this cent from absolute perfection. The obverse is medium and light brown, the reverse medium dark steel brown. An excellent example for a mid-range date or type set.
We note the obverse has some yellow tones in the color department, while the reverse is darker and more even. The small date has always been popular with collectors, and luckily is available in most grades.
Estimated Value $300 - 600.
Ex: T. James Clarke, 1944; B. Max Mehl; B. Max Mehl M.B.S. #106 6/45: 1782 as "claimed to be the finest known when offered in the Dr. French Collection where it was priced at $65.00." at $38.50.

Realized $414
