Phoenicia. Tyre, after 126 BC. AR Shekel-Tetradrachm (13.6 g), struck c. 99/98 BC. Seemingly unpublished date. Thus, rare. Laureate, skin-clad bust of Melkaart right. Reverse: Eagle standing left on prow, palm branch at shoulder, club and date in fields (HK = year 28). BMC -- (but cf. the subsequent year, no. 114); SNG Cop. --. Struck on tight flan. Lightly toned, with a few small spots of isolated porosity. Very Fine, the reverse better.
