Cumberland City Bank $1.00 Note, Cumberland, MD. PCGS Fine 15 PPQ. This is a scarce R-5 note usually found in very low grades. This is one of the nicer examples. Formerly the Cumberland Savings Institution and later the Cumberland Savings Bank, this bank closed with a trustee appointed in 1858. They reopened as the Cumberland City Bank in 1862, issuing several denominations of bank notes, including this $1.00 Shank plate note. Haxby MD-165-G6a, Shank 30.4.1, R-5.
