1861 Liberty Seated Dollar. PCGS graded Proof 62. This Civil War era Seated Dollar exhibits some light hairlines from a likely cleaning at some point in its history and a few contact marks are noted on the arrow shafts and just above the points, yet the relatively clean fields offer noticeable contrast to the central devices. The strike is quite sharp and the color an attractive platinum shade. Only 1000 proofs were struck in 1861, with the proof mintage decreasing by about half as the war progressed (PCGS # 7004) .
