Enrico Caruso: One of the Great Tenors of the Early 20th Century. Three (3) Autographed Letters Signed to Composer, Pietro Mascagni (1873-1921) Enrico Caruso without question remains one of the most famous names in opera worldwide. "The Great Caruso" was one of the first titans of recorded music with the advent of early phonographs. His impact on pop-culture, like Pavarrotti in the late 20th Century is simply the stuff of legend. Offered are three autographed letters signed all to opera composer, Pietro Mascagni who composed the masterpiece "Cavalleria rusticana". Two are in Italian composed on Hotel Knickerbocker stationery, with one dated 1914 and the other 1915. The third letter is in English on 635 Avenue letterhead, giving Mascagni permission to relay appreciations for his portrait bust.

The 1914 letter is completely intact with three tiny strips of acid free tape to secure minor tip folds and a tiny border tear. The others appear to have been rescued from fire or water, but the beautiful signatures on all three are excellent. Estimated Value $500 - 1,200
From the Collection of Mark Rofeh.
