Austria. Ducat, 1594. Fr-85. 3.34 grams. 20.74 mm. Prague mint. Rudolph II, 1576-1612. Obv. Monarch armored with sword and scepter in right hand; orb and cross in left hand. With two crowned shields in field on each side of monarch. Left shield with Bohemian eagle and right shield Hungarian with bars and cross Lorrain. Leg: RUDOL. II.D:G.R.IM - S-A.G.HV.BOR. Reverse: Crowned double eagle. Leg:ARCHID.AUS.DUX.BUR.MA.MO.1594. NGC graded AU-58.

This Ducat is most unusual with the presence of the two obverse shields. The Bohemian and Hungarian shields are indicative of just how important these territories were.
