Bonaparte, Napoleon: Emperor of the French and one of History's Most Celebrated and Controversial Leaders. Letter Signed and Dated 1806 (1769-1821) Napoleon Bonaparte or Napoleon I without question one of the most notable military and world leaders in history. He crowned himself emperor on Dec. 2, 1804. Manuscript letter signed "Nap" as Emperor, 1½ pp, in French, 9 x 8", St. Cloud, April 16, 1806. To M. Mollieu, his finance minister, concerning the budget. In part: "I am returning the bill of the revenue of the Public Treasury for the last eight months of 1806. It is my intention that you consider it with the memorandum you gave me yesterday and that you add to it the status as of the first of April that encompasses the bills to be paid and the credits you need to collect. I believe then that this report should be for nine months….this should give me an idea of the condition of my affairs…" Choice condition.

Also included is an ALS by Charles Tristan Montholon, Marquis de Montholon who joined Napoleon in exile on St. Helena with many historians making a case that Motholon poisoned Napoleon. ALS is dated Paris, April 1925 and is in French. Estimated Value $800 - 1,500
