Miró, Joan -- "Untitled from Homenatge a Joan Prats" ca. 1971, Signed and Numbered 33/75 (1893-1983) Spanish born surrealist genius who propelled the artform and by virtue abstract expressionism. His works are instantly recognizable and have remained timeless. Joan Prats was a close friend to Miró who, as a great lover of the avant-garde, became an expert on his art and in turn Miró created a series of works that pay fitting homage to a great supporter and friend in the exuberance and play of these works. Possibly the best in the series, this magnificent example of Miró's style is an explosion of form, color and abstract characters, combining his intricate abstract elements with his recurring motifs like birds, animals, and the moon. A large lithograph in colors, 25½ x 33½" beautifully framed to 40 x 49". Numbered 33/75 (note the small edition of lithographs) on Guarro wove paper with full margins and published by Poligrafa, Barcelona, Spain. In excellent condition, no fading whatsoever, and the frame having only the slightest evidence of wear. Given the size, outside shipping necessary, for which we can recommend one of the best and most reasonable in Los Angeles. Estimate Value $4,500 - UP
