Outstanding Named Span Am War Era 71st NY Infantry Dress Uniform & Helmet. The 71st Infantry was one of the first twelve New York State National Guard units to be federalized for Spanish American War service. This complete dress uniform of that period or very slightly later consists of a handsome navy blue wool tunic with fine embroidery, bullion detailing and gilt buttons of the 71st. It is named on the inside to "J Franklin Co. A" and has a tailor's label of "Browning King & Co. New York". Includes the blue wool pants with wide white side stripes, white cotton gloves (soiled) and headgear with helmet plate of the 71st with maker stamp of Ridabock & Co., 36th St. NYC, the helmet in very nice condition. There are just a few very minor age flaws, mothing, etc., but overall this is an excellent condition uniform for its age. Rare this nice and complete.
