Lot 375

1839 N-9 R2 Silly Head. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown. CAC. Frosty light to medium brown and steel. The fields are satiny and attractive, covered with microscopic die flowlines creating nice cartwheel luster. The best identifying mark, and it is faint, is a small spot of slightly darker toning in the field under the right edge of star 5. M-LDS with clear rim cud breaks from star 5.5 to star 6.5, from star 7 to star 8, and from right of star 9 down to star 11, plus a smaller one under the 18. The bisecting obverse die crack is clear, as is the one from the nostril down through the chin into the field below. An attractive cent in a neat die state. Noyes photo #61167 but not yet graded for his census. Our grade is MS60. The attribution and Nancy & Bryan Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 4; 7 finer: 2 in 65, 4 in 66, 1 in 67. (PCGS # 37234) Value $2,000 - UP
