Rome. Trajan, 98-117 AD. AE Sestertius, Rome mint, struck c. 107 AD. Laureate and draped bust right. Reverse: Roma standing left, holding spear and Victory, Dacian supplicant at feet. RIC 486; BMCRE 772; C. 386. Finely struck, but with roughness and corrosion to metal, along with a Near Eastern peasant's test for gold -- a scrape to reverse edge of coin! Otherwise choice portrait and less common type. Sharpness of Extremely Fine.
