Lot 364

1837 N-3 R3 NGC graded MS64RB. NGC graded MS-64 Red & Brown. Plain Hair Cord with Medium Letters. Slightly faded mint red with steel brown toning on the highpoints, at least 75% of the mellowed mint color remaining on both sides. There are numerous microscopic specks of dark steel toning sprinkled about both sides, all invisible to the unaided eye except for a few around the date. There are some faint contact marks in the field near the chin and a small nick under the left foot of the N in CENT. Sharply struck EDS. The irregular die scratch from the left end of the line under CENT is sharp and the field in that area shows fine die polishing lines. Called MS65 and tied for CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #28829. Bland says MS70- and CC#1. Our grade is MS65. PCGS Population 1; 1 finer in 65RB.
Estimated Value $1,000-UP.
Ex Willard C. Blaisdell 9/76-Del Bland 9/76.
