Lot 362

1832 N-2 R3 Medium Letters. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown. Lustrous medium brown and light chocolate with light bluish steel overtones. Hints of very faded mint color remain visible on the reverse and this cent has excellent eye appeal. The only notable marks are a small arc of pre-striking incuse dentils at stars 9 & 10 and a small rim nick at star 4. LDS. The stray S right of the D in UNITED is gone and there is a faint die crack from the base of the E in CENT to the leaf off the left end of the line below CENT. Graded MS60 and tied for CC#4 in the Noyes census, his photo #27152. Our grade is MS60. This is the plate coin for the variety in the 1991 Noyes reference on the cents of 1816-1839. A nice example of the toughest 1832 variety to find in high grade. And it comes with an impressive provenance. The attribution and Nancy & Bryan Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 3 finer: 1 in 64+, 2 in 65. (PCGS # 37015) Value $2,000 - UP
