Lot 36

1795 C-6a R2 No Pole F12. Sharpness near VF20 but there are some hairline scratches hidden in the toning on the obverse and a slightly stronger scratch in the field before the forehead. Otherwise the surfaces are smooth and the eye appeal is decent. The devices are glossy medium brown while the fields and protected areas are a darker shade of chocolate. The contrast creates an attractive two-tone appearance that accents the devices and adds to the eye appeal. Struck on a planchet cut down from a 1794 Talbot Allum & Lee Cent (TAL) with New York. Traces of the TAL undertype are visible on the reverse, especially over UNITED. LDS, Manley state 2.0, with subtle swelling right of the Y in LIBERTY. The date and legends are complete and clear. Weight 92.8 grains. Estimate Value $500 - UP
Les Heilbronner Collection 1988-Les Heilbronner Estate.
